It's time to shake up breakfast this Easter with these delicious Hot Cross Puffs!
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups self raising flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 100g melted butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup white chocolate bites
- 1 tsp mixed spices
- 1 orange (for zest and juice)
- 1 cup of milk
Method
- Using an electric mixer, combine the butter and sugar until lightly fluffy
- Slowly add the vanilla essence and egg to the mixture while beating
- Add the flour, brown sugar, milk, orange zest and spices. Mix for approx 5 mins till a thick dough is formed
- Wrap the dough in glad wrap and place in the fridge for 30 mins
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
- Roll dough into small 1cm balls and place evenly on a lined baking tray and cook in the oven for 10-12mins
- Melt the white chocolate and place in a piping bag.
- Once the "puffs" have cooled, use the white chocolate to criss-cross the cookies to form a "hot cross bun" look
- Once the chocolate has hardened, enjoy like cereal with milk!
